Fleshie Passion Spurs On Lethal Phoenix

Gower Phoenix 7 London Tigers 0

Gower Phoenix (4-4-2) Greg – Dens, Treeno, Wrighty, Wall – Toby, Muffdog, Jon, Lucas – Fleshie, Bolu

The Phoenix bounced back in style from their humbling against Northern with a comprehensive thrashing of a far from awful Tigers team.

Right from the start of the day it was clear that everyone was focused and ready to give big performances’. Everybody turned up on time and that allowed for a proper warm up and time spent on the ball.

Right from the kick off you could tell that Phoenix wanted it more. Toby’s trickery on the left saw him brought down in the third minute and Fleshie curled in a great shot that may have glanced the on-rushing Bolu on the way into the net, 1-0. A few minutes later and Fleshie’s tireless running saw him chase down a backpass to the keeper who hit the ball against the Phoenix players arse and in it went, 2-0.

With Muffdog and Hanna winning the centre midfield, the defence was outstanding; Treen was winning everything in the air and Wrighty was putting his body on the line to ensure that none passed. On the flanks Wall and Dens were getting forward to good effect, a Hanna cut back saw Dens crack a 25 yard cross come shot against the crossbar. Phoenix were on the march.

Then a great series of passes and a one-two between Bolu and Treen saw the Arian defender dance into the box and finish with a mid-air volley into the right hand corner. Very nice, 3-0.

By half time the opposition had only had one corner and Phoenix had not had to take a single goal kick. Apart from a chance right of the start of the half, Phoenix stayed strong and alert. More excellent work from Lucas and Bolu saw two tap in’s from Toby and Hanna. Bolu got a great dribble and shoot goal for all his assists work and Lucas showed bravery and composure to take down a Fleshie pass and finish.

So a good performance from all from 1 to 11. Three outstanding performances from Bolu, who the opposition simply could not handle and was unselfish and cunning in the pass. Muffdog, whose workrate and hard tackling was a joy to behold, and Fleshie who optimised the spirit of the Phoenix that was needed on the day.

MOTM: Fleshie

Alot of the win was down to Fleshie's cunning plan of having the tall defenders go up for corners!! amazing
