Gower vs Neasden C

The mixture of the Phoenix and Allstars proved lethal in their first pre-season 90-mins match versus Neasden C. The game was split in 3 x 30 mins sessions.

Blandy on the right wing, gave Gowers an excellent outlet right from the off, consistently beating his man and looking threatening. This was converted into a fine goal from the 20yr old, when he beat his man, cut inside and thundered a shot into the corner of the net.

However Gowers allowed Neasden back into the game, not closing their opposition down quick enough, and allowing them to play through the midfield and attack the defence.

Two sloppy/lucky goals were conceded when the defence did not cover effectively enough, and Neasden finished well, to take the lead after the first 30 mins session.

For the second session our passing, and communication needing improving, and that it certainly did.

Emms and Mitchell in the midfield combined well, leaving the wingers and strikers to combine with some top class football.

The next 60 mins of play showed Neasden why Gowers had such a strong season in 2007. At times, we were simply untouchable. Very impressive for a first pre-season…

Goals from Klinger and Howard, supplemented the awesome hatricks of both Flesch and Medley, to give the Gowers a 9-3 overall demolition.

Goal of the day, is a close call between, Fleschys curler into the side-netting from outside the box, or Klingers mazy run leaving 2-3 players on the floor attempting to tackle him, only for Howard to run into the box, and Klinger to find his man perfectly for a tap-in, or Medley final goal, running 20-yards directly at both centre-backs, shimmying to his right, and whalloping a perfect strike from outside the box into the top corner.

All were great goals, and rounded off a good start to the season – well played all.
