MA Cup 1st Rnd - Submarine vs Gower Allstars

The difference in class was obvious from the very first whistle, on Sunday, between the Premier leaders and the mid-table 2nd division side, Submarine.

And whilst the Gowers, took a while to “wake-up” to the 10am start, they soon found their rhythm, when a through-ball, come shot from Durrant, split the submarine defence, and was dummied by Kelly, with the ball ending up in the net. 1-0 Gower.

Almost seconds after, a fine move, broke the offside trap, and Kelly had an easy tap in to double the lead.

On 20 mins, the game was effectively over, when a throw in bounced over Kelly, and found Klinger who finished with composure. 3-0

Gower power continued when Klinger used his predictable yet effective turn and was fouled in the box, penalty. Que a Ricky blast into the roof of the net. 4-0.

HT.

The Allstars could then relax and play possession football, from the back, and when they switched the play from the back, using the channels, they were most effective.

Ricky was simply immense in the middle, winning, passing and creating. And his reward came, when he won the ball in midfield, dummied an oncoming player, and bulleted a shot across the keeper in to the corner of the net.

The usual scare or two at the back, did not result in a goal, but the game was rounded off, in style, when a beautiful one-two was lofted by Chittenden, for the oncoming Ricky, to volley home from 20 yards and score his first ever hatrick.

6-0 final score.

MOTM = Easiest one of the season – Ricky – regardless of his brilliant hatrick, he was by far and away the best and most effective player on the pitch.

A good confidence booster for the biggest game of 2008 so far. Red Star this coming Sunday in the league at their place – Heath Extension, Wildwood Rd,

Absolutely huge match, which simply needs a victory. No two ways about it. We have the momentum, they must win, they must topple the leaders, they will be ridiculously up for it.

But we will not hesitate, we will not succumb.

We are champions in the making. We deserve to be winning this league. And deserve to be champions if we do the double over the 6-time champions.

Game on. Its time to stand up and be counted. Its time for heroes…..
