Match Report - Allstars vs Crown & Goose Sun 7th Oct

UCS 6 v 2 Crown & Goose

1-0 : Deep cross from Ollie to left hand-side of penalty area, hit on the volley by Duggan
with the outside of his boot. Similar to Di Canio from Trevor Sinclair’s
cross…..ridiculously good.

2-0: Ball into the box, punched to the edge of the box, hit on the volley by Mike with his left foot, top corner.

3-0: Dave B running into the box, defender takes the ball and the man. Penalty. Harsh, but silly challenge in the box, needless. Ricky puts it away, easy.

3-1: Ball over the top to striker, quote Danny: “yards off side”. Striker knocks it over Rod and finishes into the empty net.

3-2: Ball into the box not cleared properly, opposition striker given too much time to curl a shot into the far corner from 12-15 yards out. Casual defending punished.

4-2: Superb run inside from Dave B, cutting in from left flank to drill the ball past the keeper from outside the box. Great run and strike and a just reward for direct running throughout the game.

5-2: Tap in, Tim.

6-2: Tap in, Tim.

There was not much flow to this game. We simply had individual players who produced moments of quality to win us the game.

We can play much better as a team, undoubtedly. But, in the team’s defence, it is hard to have focus against opposition that do not test you. The fact we won convincingly without breaking sweat is encouraging.

MOTM: Dave B – excellent 1st touch, quick and direct – can play wide or through the middle.

Honourable mentions to:
Ricky who is an absolute colossus – I feel sorry for the oppo at times.
Loz, no mistakes, no fuss.
