Outback FC vs Gower Allstars - match report

The Allstars delivered a lacklustre performance against a determined 10-man Outback side on Sunday on a very hard bobbly pitch at Tufnell Park. The 3pts went Gowers way due to their superior quality man-for-man, and numerical advantage throughout the game.

Early goals from Botterill, Blandy, and Botterill again, saw Gowers take a comfortable 3-0 lead after just 20 mins.

But Outback shot back with an inch perfect free-kick finding the top corner of Paley’s net, to give themselves a fighting chance – but Allstars responded with a good finish from Blandy to take Gowers into half-time 4-1 up.

Credit to Outback yet again, they responded the quicker after the break, with a 30-yard top spinner which beat Paley in the sun, and found the roof of the net to make it 4-2 – game on.
20 minutes of battling noticeably from Roger and Byfield, held Outback at bay, and Botterill completed his 2nd hatrick in as many games, by latching onto a through ball, and lobbing the keeping.

5-2, against 10-men you would think it was over, but no, Outback continued to battle, mainly through their tall strong centre forward, who caused problems to both Byfield and especially Glyn (with his 2nd elbow to the eye of the season, yes a proper black eye has arrived).

A poorly defended corner gave Outback a glimmer of hope when they scored to make it 5-3, but the game was sealed 10 mins from the end, when a cross come shot from Kelly, found the far corner.

6-3 game over.

Flattering scoreline really, however the Allstars did what they needed to do.
Get those all important 3 points – against a decent side in 2nd place in the league.

So, now the finish line is in sight.

One more win required (from two games). Next up TPR on 26th April – 10am KO at Whittington Park. Our surface, our game, our win, our 100% record, our championship!

Its there for the taking....

MOTM = Roger Milburn – lead the midfield, communicated excellently, and drove the team forward for 90 mins solid. Well done.
